Cynthia D'Aprix Sweeney

Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney’s debut novel The Nest was published in 2016 and spent more than six months on the New York Times bestseller list. The book was a Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writer’s pick, a best fiction finalist for the Goodreads Choice Award, and was named one of the best books of 2016 by People, Amazon, the Washington Post, the San Francisco Chronicle, Library Reads, and others. The Nest has been translated into more than 25 languages and optioned for film by Amazon Studios with Jill Soloway’s Topple Productions producing.


Previously, Sweeney worked in New York City for more than 20 years as a freelance copywriter and marketing and branding consultant. She has written or directed creative copy for a number corporations, including American Express, McDonald’s, MSN.com and Condé Nast.


Cynthia has served as a trustee of the Berkeley-Carroll School in Brooklyn, NY, and is active in a variety of reproductive rights organizations. She holds an MFA from the Bennington Writing Seminars and lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two sons.
